Tussey Mountain
First off, I would to thank everyone who came on the hayride, hope you all enjoyed it. We were the biggest crowd they've ever had there and hopefully we can make it even better next year.
Now for the big news, Tussey Mountain is pushing really hard to take their park to the next level. In doing so they went out and purchased a handful of rails from Ski Roundtop. Also, WE (the team) will be personally helping Curtis Harrison , their groomer, with builds and other aspects of the park. Here is a quick pic of the rails from Roundtop.
You can check out the Tussey Mountain Terrain Park group on facebook for future updates. The season is right around the corner!

Penn State Snowboard Club - THON
This is the third year that PSSC has been involved in THON, and the first year we’ve ever had a THON Family! Trevor Hart (15 years old) and his family found out back in August that Trevor had developed Leukemia. Having a THON child really motivated the PSSCers to raise more money than we ever have: $17,317.61 for a school-wide total of over $9.5 million.
We had a great run this year and had a really great time getting to know each other during both canning and THON weekends. All of our dedicated members were truly amazing, and a special mention should be made for our dancers Molly Reese and Julie Baker. We all look forward to next year!
If interested in helping participate with THON next year, please contact Sarah Hefner at shefner22@gmail.com.

Brand New Site!!
As you've obviously noticed by now, the PSSC site got a bit of a facelift last weekend. I've been working for a couple months on the new design and features. For the most part, everything will be similar to what you are used to. I've added a few new features to the homepage and extended the left sidebar to every page of the site. You'll notice a revamped video section and a brand new Inbox for managing your site messages.
As part of finishing up the new site, I wrote a blog post over on my personal blog outlining some of the improvements that were made to the site. If you're interested, head over to http://plzkthxbai.com/ to read about the new site!

Penn State Snowboard Club to be dissolved Summer 2009
My Dearest Club Members,
As you all may know, the recent economy has caused many struggles for many people. Workers are getting laid off, and its harder for college grads to get a job than ever. For many of us who are currently enrolled at a University, we may sometimes think that we are immune to the economy. Well it turns out that is not completely true. The economy has shown its wrath on us all.
So to cut to the point - and I deeply regret saying this - but it looks like there will no longer be a snowboard club at Penn State next year. To be honest, we have seen this coming for awhile and we have tried to do everything in our power to fix the solution. We even set up a hearing at club sports and asked for a buyout. Erin rejected us just like Andre Iguodala on Jimmy Fallon. Well, the pork barrell spending is over. The fact is there simply isn't any more money to support Penn State's biggest club sport.
If there is a silver lining in all of this terrible news, it's that we managed to ensure that all of this year's officers will get their bonuses.
Sincerely,
Alex Wyczalkowski
PS. April Fools

Team Tryouts
Hey dudes. I emailed some busters about this but if you never sent me your email, team tryouts will be this Sunday the 28th at Big Boulder. We will meet at noon at the bottom of Freedom Park (all the way to the right looking up at the mountain). Look for all the dudes just standing around in tight pants. We will lap the park and maybe hike a rail for an hour or so. Pretty straightforward, but email me if you have any questions (jef5061@psu.edu). Weather shouldn't be an issue, but if it looks like we won't be going I will post something Saturday night. See you all Sunday. Get loose!

Team Tryouts
Alright dudes, so I blew it this weekend and dropped the video camera case on my toe and couldn't snowboard at all in Killington. I know this screwed up tryouts a little bit. I heard some of you busters rode with the team for a while in the park though. If you were one of those kids, or if you couldn't find anybody and just said fuck it, or whatever (basically, if you're still interested in the team), email me with your name and whatnot, and we are going to work out a day to all ride together at Big Boulder over Christmas break so we can get this stuff all settled. The team will be decided before the Tremblant trip for sure though, we're not doing tryouts there. Let me know dudes.

The Penn State Snowboard Club is hooking up you guys again. Looks like that $40 you paid at the beginning of the semester is a steal. This is a legit store that carries a lot of the same brands that sponsor us like Forum, Foursquare, Special Blend, Electric and more.
So this deal is open to all club members. The deal days are December 2-6th (Thurs-Sun), and you will get 20% off all items. Read closely, as this is going to work differently for everyone depending on whether or not your are coming to Killington.
Club Members coming to Killington:
We will be stopping at Darkside Snowboard Shop during our stay at Killington. Everyone with a Penn State ID will receive 20% off anything in in the store. We may or may not do a shuttle with our charter bus Saturday evening, depending on our bus situation. Pitt Rail Jam
Last Friday night the team took a trip to the Univ. of Pitt campus to compete in their annual preseason rail jam. There were dudes everywhere. The set up was a double line, with a corrugated pipe pole-jam and an up-down box. Lots of weird tricks and weird falls went down. Club member Magy placed 3rd for the chicas, and none of the dudes placed because we decided to leave before finals. Oops. Check out the photo gallery for some sick photos by Michelle Wagner. Dudes dudes dudes!

NOMIS and Technine Proforms Update
List what you want on the Forum here. Include the price. Make sure it is on the order form at the bottom.
** We are re-opening the Nomis and Technine proforms to the entire club. Our minimum order has changed to $1000, so if you are still interested in getting something, get it back to us asap.
We now have proforms available from NOMIS and Technine. Theres some decent deals on here. I saw a board for $160. Between the 2 companies you can get your board, bindings, outerwear, and more accessories than you can shake a stick at. At the bottom you will see links to the different Technine and NOMIS catalogs, as well as the order form with prices.
Heres how its gonna work. Its a bulk deal so were gonna do 1 big order as a club. The due date for orders is Thursday November 20. Remember to add 6% sales tax to the order, and a $5 warehouse fee (if the club's total order is over $2500, the fee will be waved, and you will get your $5 back). You can pay cash or check to "Penn State Snowboard Club".
Here are the catalogs:
These are pretty large files, so you can also go to the companies website if you're super antsy.
Here is the order form with prices. Print it out and bring it to us:

PSSC Team Goes to Woodward
This past Sunday, the team headed out to Woodward to do some skating and check out these weird new things called rollerboards. Thanks to former PSSC President and now Woodward employed Kyle Barnoff, the team was able to have one of the buildings all to themselves. Along with the plethora of skate features, there was also a foam pit where they tried out some flips, spins, twirls, and grabs.
The rollerboards are kinda like a skateboard but it has bindings so it feels alot like a snowboard.
All in all a pretty sweet day. Stay tuned this winter for when the team starts thowing down their tricks on snow.
Check out all of the photos on our gallery page.

May Day at Big Boulder
Hey! For all of you who didn't make it out to Big Boulder Park today, you really missed out! Big Boulder pulled out all the stops to throw down an amazing day for everyone! They had a 20' jump, 11 rails/boxes, and a rhythm section with another 6 or so small hits. Loads of fireworks, Red Bull, a live DJ, and the skate ramp added to the overall vibe. Check out a few pictures from the event! I'll be posting a full gallery & article link in a few days!

Rules of Dodgeball
- The game will began with all players in position touching their respective back walls/line. At sound of the whistle, players will rush to the center to pick up the dodgeballs. The balls must then be touched to the back wall/line before being thrown at the opposing team.
- To eliminate a player you must hit him/her with a ball or catch a ball he/she has thrown before the ball has touched the floor or walls. A throw that hits more than one player before touching the ground or wall or being caught eliminates all hit players and the thrower shall be regarded as AWESOME!
- Once a player is hit he/she must sit on the sidelines for the remainder of the round.
- If a player catches a live ball, the thrower is “out” and everyone hit by the thrown ball remains “in”. Also, any player from the catcher’s team may reenter the game. Players must reenter in the order in which they were eliminated.
- Players may leave their court to retrieve loose balls. They may reach over center line, but no part of their body may touch their opponents side of the court. Violators are ELIMINATED!!!
- A match will consist of three rounds; best of three wins the match. The team who eliminates all of their opponents wins the round.
Most importantly, there is no crying in dodgeball. We are all adults and are able to withstand mild shots to the head with small, FOAM balls. Because we are no longer in 6th grade, HEAD SHOTS COUNT!
The NADA insists all contestants show respect to and obey the referees at all times. They are there to ensure the safety of all players, and to do otherwise would be really really lame.

I've added a new media section which features (for now) the old video section as well as a brand new photo section. We've got 6 new galleries posted up in there and will continue to add more photos as the year goes on. Hope you like all the new media! I'll leave you with a tip for viewing the photos... If you would like to view the photos as a slideshow, click on the first thumbnail. Once the popup window opens you can mouseover the top right part of the image and you should see "Next". Clicking that will take you through the entire gallery without making you go back to the thumbnails. Hope that helps!

Submit Design for Club Shirts!
As you know, all club members who paid dues will be getting a long sleeved club tee shirt within the next couple of weeks. We have a couple designs already, but are looking for better ones. In the past we have reached out to the club members and they have provided some really sick graphics. So, all of you graphic designers out there sharpen your pencils (or your Photoshop skillz...) and let's see what you've got!
Okay so here are the rules:
- You must include "Penn State Snowboard Club" somewhere on the design.
- You should try to use "PSSC" somewhere on the design as well. (Not Required though...)
- Keep it classy. We can't get vulgar or obscene designs printed so just keep it clean.
You can turn in the design anyway you'd like, but ideally if you could provide a digital copy (Photoshop file, scanned drawing, etc) that would be great.
Email all designs to me at jason@roundtopriders.com
Deadline: All submissions are due by November 1st.
Thanks for helping out the club with your artistic abilities!!

I'm really pulling for the parachute pants
We've all seen the emergence of many snowboarding trends. Lift lines are waist deep in over sized pants and basketball jerseys. Tall T's are literally flying off the rack at Wal-Mart. Girls are knitting their friends tons of colorful hats. Pants are getting so tight that they're cutting off circulation to the brain. And iRide playlists are killing the art of chairlift conversation. <some of the populars
As we approach the upcoming season, i can't help but wonder what sort of self expression will next materialize into some form of riding gear.
Cowboy hats and Spurs possibly? Parachute pants were pretty popular in the 80s.Read more » | 12 Comments

Welcome Art McNulty
First, I would like to thank everyone who voted me for president last year. However, I have resigned my position to Art McNulty. The decision was thoughtfully made by the current officers and chairs. Help me congratulate Art as the new PSSC pres!
I am sure some of you have questions about my resignation... which stems from my goal to search for a new career. I loved the position last year, and I had a ton of fun learning about the organization and how it worked. I was lucky to have a great 'round-table' of enthusiastic officers last year who were happy to throw a bunch of events. I was even more stoked to run the club this year, but in fear of pro ski-blading being my most legitimate career choice, I have decided to step down.

The Forum is Up!
So I am kinda eavesdropping on Jason's new feature, and not allowing him room to take credit, but I wanted to try and move our healthy conversations over to the Officer's Forum. The forum will be more secure and will keep a good long term record.
If Jason is upset with my claim of his own feature, I am sure he could p3wn me like a n00b by deleting this post quick, and replace it with a l3git claim of his own...quick.

Stadium Cleanup
Stadium clean-up is on the Sunday morning after the football games. I've done it before and I think we had to report to the stadium around 7am and were done at 11ish? I kind of forget, but that at least gives you an idea.
Any word on if we'll be able to do the ticket scanning job again? That was pretty sweet... since it doesn't involve soggy nachos.

Site Updates!
Hey Everyone,
I'm so stoked to see that you have all begun using the site so heavily over the past week or two. It's amazing to see how quickly it picked up! I wanted to let you know of a few features that I have rolled out over the past 2 days. I think you have probably seen a few of them, but I wanted to point them out in case you missed them. I have added a more robust profile/contact information system. There is now 2 parts to the "profile". The actual profile, which has information that everyone can see, and then there is the contact information. This contact information is designed primarily for club use and for our records. However, I have made the option of making ur contact information "public" so that others on the site can see. I have also added the ability to have icons, which will eventually be used in the new forums that I hope to build shortly. You can upload your own icon from your My PSSC page.
I have also added the headlines archive, where you can view all of the old news entries. I have added the Message History area where you can see a history of all your messages (sent and received) since you created your account. I will be enhancing this area shortly so that you can do sorting and filtering on your messages.
Lastly, i have added a Club Members page which lists all of hte members currently enrolled on our site. You can view this by checking out the bottom of the online list (Under Newest Members) you should see a "See All" link. Click that.
As always, please try to use firefox when browsing the site for the time being. I have been working hard to get better support for IE7 and IE6 but it's not really there yet.
Thanks for everything and I hope you guys and girls are enjoying the new site so far!
